Strategy for Success

The time between deciding you want to try stand-up and actually making any money doing it can be lengthy and humbling. MOST give up before they have success.

These writing and performing classes push you 2-3 years ahead of those who are "winging it." You will have a built in peer group as well as access to information I've gathered in my 18 years in the comedy world.

"It's a hardcore crash course in writing!"
- Monty Mitchell, Former  Student

We cover where to get inspiration, how to write, how to structure and when to tweak your material.

If you take both the writing and performing classes and develop a clean 3 minute set - you'll be guaranteed a spot in the graduation show at Zanies Comedy Showplace in Nashville, TN. The show is recorded for you to a DVD so you can upload, share and promote yourself.

"It covers a wide range of topics, techniques and goodies to get a new comic on the right track."

Mark Anundson, Stand-Up Comic

Once a year I offer a "Business of Comedy" seminar. This one day seminar will cover everything from how to start getting guest spots, to when to know it's time to headline. We'll also talk about press kits, publicity, taxes, web presence, merchandise and a whole lot more.

If you are into Improvisational Comedy, I've got you covered there too! I began as an Improv guy and will teach you the basics in the Intro to Improv class. Typically, the class is offered twice a year.

Pre-registration is open for all classes. Shoot an e-mail off to comedyhomework@aol.com or fill out the contact form on the contact page and let me know which classes you are interested in. Writing and Improv sessions are limited to 20 students. Performing is limited to 7 per session. And the business class is big enough for EVERYONE interested.
